Punjab News- Rich tributes paid to Mata Balwant Kaur

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal during the Bhog and Antim Ardaas of Mata Balwant Kaur at Sri Muktsar Sahib on Sunday.

Sri Muktsar Sahib, September 8, 2013: Glowing tributes were paid to Mata Balwant Kaur, the mother of President local Municipal Council Mit Singh Brar and grandmother of Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Gaggandip Singh Brar IAS, by several eminent personalities here at Bhai Maha Singh Hall of Gurdwara Sri Tutti Gandi Sahib during her Bhog and Antim Ardas.

Paying rich tributes to Mata Balwant Kaur, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal recalled his ties with the family since long and said that the death of Mata Balwant Kaur was a huge personal loss to him. He said Mata Balwant Kaur was a pious and religious soul who played a pivotal role in shaping the destiny of her progeny through imparting higher education to them. Badal said Mata Balwant Kaur’s farsightedness and her passion for educating her children and grandchildren was evident from the fact that one of her grandsons Gaggandip Singh Brar IAS was serving as his Special Principal Secretary.

The Chief Minister appreciated the unique role of Brar family, which enjoyed an impeccable reputation in the region, for their honesty, integrity and devotion for the welfare of mankind on one hand and serving the state, party and administration with sincerity and diligence on the other. Badal said that sad demise of Mata Balwant Kaur has created a void which was difficult to be filled in near future. He also lauded the services of Mit Singh Brar in the political, social and religious fields.

Paying homage to Mata Balwant Kaur, Information and Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia expressed his heartfelt sympathies with the family members, friends and relatives in this hour of grief. He said the presence of thousands of people from all walks of life, who have converged here on the Bhog and Antim Ardas of Mata Balwant Kaur reflects how highly she was respected by the people in the region. Majithia said Mata Balwant Kaur was a great visionary and worldly wise who got her children well educated to succeed in their life and serve the society, at a time when people had least awareness about the significance of education.

Speaking on the occasion Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa said that they shared family ties with the renowned Brar family and Mata Balwant Kaur was a source of inspiration for all of them in scaling new heights of glory and prosperity besides serving the society and state with humility and enthusiasm.          

Earlier Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh also paid rich tributes saying that all relations were very warm and cordial but the relation of motherhood was supreme. Praying to God he said, “May her soul rest in peace”.

On the occasion the President of state unit of BJP Kamal Sharma said that the loss of Mata Balwant Kaur to Brar family was no doubt irreparable but inconsolable too. He prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul besides giving enormous strength to the family for bearing this huge loss.

Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included MLAs Harpreet Singh, Joginder Pal Jain and Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Vice Chairman State Planning Board Rajinder Bhandari, former Union Minister Balwant Singh Ramoowalia, former Speaker Punjab Assembly Nirmal Singh Kahlon, District President Sri Muktsar Sahib Manjit Singh Barkandi and senior Youth Akali leader Kanwarjit Singh Rozi Barkandi besides senior leaders of SAD-BJP, Members of SGPC and officers of Civil and Police Administration.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by his Advisor on Media and National Affairs Harcharan Bains, Principal Secretary SK Sandhu and Special Principal Secretary KJS Cheema.
