Punjab mulls compulsory training for Up-Vaids at Ayurvedic College Patiala

Chandigarh, June 17, 2014: The Punjab Government is seriously contemplating to make the training at Government Ayurvedic College, Patiala, compulsory for all the students pursuing course of Up-vaids in 52 Ayurvedic College of the state.

While addressing the faculty of Government Ayurvedic College, Patiala, Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister Anil Joshi further directed the staff to ensure the proper arrangements for the students, who would come for training. He also directed to make more medicines in the pharmacy of the college using herbs of their own Herbal Garden. “The decision of free testing of the medicine produced in college pharmacy would be taken soon”, added the minister.

Joshi categorically said that every effort would be taken to promote Punjab as an Herbal and Medicinal Tourism by adopting its traditional Ayurvedic and Panchkarma. He instructed the officials to chalk out a plan for promoting Ayurvedic and Panchkarma. He directed the college authorities to draft new rules after reviewing the already existing service rules, 1963 of field and teaching staff of Ayurveda Department. He also asked the staff to ensure the proper stock of generic medicine at OPD and IPD of college.
