Chandigarh, June 25, 2014: Punjab Animal Husbandry Department today decided to launch a series of 1000 disease diagnosis and treatment camps throughout the state with a view to provide medical assistance to cattle rearers for their livestock by sanctioning Rs. 1 crore for this purpose.  

This decision has been taken in 21st Livestock Development Board meeting presided by Animal Husbandry Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike. The Minister said that camps would be organised under the supervision of concerned Senior Veterinary Officers along with two Veterinary Officers assisted by para-veterinary staff. These teams have been constituted for the successful launching and concluding of these events including experts like Gynecologist, Pathologist, Surgeons would be called from the polyclinic level.

The Minister asked the authorities concerned to make adequate arrangements on suitable sites for on the spot diagnose and treatment to livestock suffering from various ailments. He also directed that experts from Regional Diagnostic Laboratory, Jalandhar should also be available at the camp sites for giving their expert opinion.

In the meeting an amount of Rs.103.63 has also been sanctioned for Frozen Semen Station, Nabha boundary wall. The Board also gave approval  for the appointment of  Dr. A.K. Srivastva, Director, NDRI as Technical Expert replacing Dr. P.N. Bhat.

Vajraligam, Financial Commissioner, Animal Husbandry; Dr. H.S.Sandha, Director, Animal Husbandry; Inderjit Singh, Director, Dairy Development;  Member, PIDB Jaswinder Singh Dhillon and Mugwinder Singh; Chief General Manager, NABARD; General Manager NABARD, Dr. Viswas; Dr. Dhaliwal from Punjab Agricultre University, Ludhiana, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU, Dr. V.K.Taneja and other Members of the Board were also present in the meeting.
