Punjab issues instruction on foreign tours of IAS Officers
Chandigarh, November 20, 2014: The Punjab Government has issued fresh instruction pertaining to the foreign visits of IAS officers. All the departments have been asked to put up the cadre clearance recommendations, regarding IAS officer’s foreign visit, to the personnel department 15 days prior to the visit.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the personnel department said that the departments have also been asked to obtain political clearance from the Union Minister of Foreign Affairs before sending the case to the Personnel Department. He said that the Personnel Department has found that in most of the cases the departments sends cadre clearance recommendation without getting the political clearance from the Union Minister of Foreign Affairs or the IAS officers proceeded on foreign visit without getting such approval. He said that the Government of India, in a hard hitting letter, has expressed serious concern on this issue and decided that in future no such case be considered for ex-post-facto approval.
The spokesperson further said that department have been instructed to get prior approval of the Chief Minister in case there is change in the date of foreign visit of a IAS officer.
