Health and Family Welfare Minister Punjab Surjeet Kumar Jayani meets the Union Health Minister J.P.Nadda, Vinni Mahajan, Secretary Health and Family Welfare Punjab is also seen.
Chandigarh, November 15, 2014: The Union Health Minister J.P.Nadda has agreed to lay the foundation stones of two upcoming Cancer Hospitals at Fazilka and Hoshiarpur in Punjab. He has asked the Health and Family Welfare Minister Punjab Surjeet Kumar Jayani to work out the plan for the foundation laying function and seek a formal date in this matter.
Jayani along with Vinni Mahajan, Secretary Health and Family Welfare Punjab today called on the Union Health Minister J.P.Nadda who was on a short visit to Chandigarh.
During the course of meeting, Union Health Minister appreciated the Punjab government’s initiative to successfully launch the Rural Health and Urban Health Missions in Punjab aiming at covering the entire population under quality health cover. The Minister also appreciated the strict compliance of PNDT Act in Punjab and said that government of India would extend all required help and assistance to strengthen the resolve of the state government in checking female foeticide. Nadda assured the Punjab government to extend ample support and cooperation to the health related issues lying pending with the central government. He said all the issues pertaining to health would be resolved on top priority.
While welcoming Union Health Minister Nadda, Jayani expressed gratitude to the union government for having accepted the state government’s proposal for sanctioning an additional tertiary care cancer centre in Fazilka, and Hoshiarpur. He said that Punjab was emerging as the state with most advanced cancer cure facilities, and these upcoming hospitals, would help the state in its ongoing crusade against cancer. He said the state government has declared a war against the menace of cancer with an objective to eliminate it with all-out efforts to ensure world-class best cancer treatment and diagnostic facilities to the patients inflicted with this deadly disease at affordable rates.
