Punjab government impeding developmental works in Hoshiarpur, Phagwara and Pathankot: BJP

Led by Sampla, mayors of Hoshiarpur, Phagwara and Pathankot meet Union Minister Hardeep Puri
Chandigarh, February 28, 2018:Blaming the Punjab government for impeding the developmental works, mayors of Hoshiarpur, Phagwara and Pathankot, led by Union Minister and Punjab BJP President, Vijay Sampla today met Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Puri.
Hoshiarpur Municipal Corporation Mayor Shiv Sood, Phagwara Mayor Arun Khosla and Pathankot Mayor Anil Vasudeva charged that the state government was deliberately hindering the sewerage, water supply and sewerage treatment plant projects in their municipal areas.
Laying out the facts, Sampla and the three mayors briefed Puri how Capt.Amarinder Singh’s government was meting out a step-motherly treatment to Hoshiarpur, Phagwara and Pathankot vis-à-vis the Centre’s aforementioned schemes.
The mayors also claimed that had not the Punjab government played spoilsport, the works would have been completed a long time back.

Sampla told Puri that he failed to comprehend why the Punjab governments, especially the local bodies’ officers, are hampering developmental works in BJP-led municipal corporations.
Meanwhile, Puri assured Sampla and the three mayors that not only the matter would be taken up with the Punjab government, but a review meeting will also be held with the three mayors every third month.
Sampla said that he was perplexed as to why the state government was hell bent on keeping the Punjabis at bay from development, be it post Matric scholarship or the funds sent for urban development.
