Punjab goes for provisional hike in minimum wages of labourers
Chandigarh, November 10, 2014: Giving the big bonanza for the labour class in Punjab, the State Government has hiked the minimum wage at the rate of Rs.200 per month for monthly rated, Rs.7.69 for daily rated and Rs.0.96 for hourly rated workers.
Disclosing this, a spokesperson of the labour department said that the hike in wages would be affected from 1-9-14. He said that the Punjab Government while increasing the wages of the workers of various categories has considered the Consumer Price Index number of Government of India. He said that the minimum rates of wages have been provisionally enhanced for the time being.
Divulging the details the spokesperson said that in the unskilled category, the Government has enhanced the minimum wages at the rate Rs.6647.75, 256.03, 32.00 on monthly, daily and hourly basis respectively. Similarly, in the semi-skilled category, the Government has enhanced the minimum wages at the rate Rs.7427.75, 286.03, 35.80 on monthly, daily and hourly basis respectively. In the in the skilled category, the Government has enhanced the minimum wages at the rate Rs.8324.75, 320.53, 40.10 on monthly, daily and hourly basis respectively. In highly skilled category, the Government has enhanced the minimum wages at the rate Rs. 9356.75, 360.23, 45.10 on monthly, daily and hourly basis respectively.
