Punjab Education Department Takes Serious Notice Of Issue Of Non Payment Of Salaries To SSA Employees

Chandigarh, April 21, 2016: The Education Department, Punjab, has taken serious notice of the issue of some teachers and library attendants working under Sarv Sikhya Abhiyan (SSA) not getting their salaries. The department is making continuous efforts to tackle the issue and has even emphatically raised the said issue with Union Ministry of Human Resource Development. Disclosing this, a spokesman of the department said that the Union ministry has assured them that funds for the purpose would be released soon. He said that after receiving funds, salaries of Sarv Sikhya Abhiyan cadre employees would be released.
The spokesman further said that some part of the amount payable by the centre regarding the salaries of these employees remains to be paid which explains the non payment of the salaries to these employees. The spokesman also said that taking notice of the issue the Punjab Education Minister has approached HRD Minister, Principal Secretary, Punjab has approached Secretary of the Ministry and DGSE Punjab has written to the SSA Authority for early release of pending amounts. The officials of Punjab Education Department have also met HRD Ministry officials in this regard.
