Punjab Education Department completes task of recruitment of 650 new lecturers

Chandigarh, June 28, 2016: Speeding up the process of recruitment of new teachers and filling the vacant posts in government schools of the state, the Punjab Education Department has completed the task of recruitment of 650 new lecturers besides promoting 2200 teachers as lecturers, in a high level meeting presided over Dr.Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister, Punjab.
In a press communiqué, Dr.Cheema informed that after the completion of the process of recruitment and promotions, allotment of stations to the new lecturers would be started from the first week of July. He said that newly recruited lecturers would be called according to merit and be given the station of their choice.
Education Minister further said that officers of the department have been directed to start the process to fill the quota of promotion of ETT teachers as Master cadre teachers. He said that the Mukh Mantri Vigyan Yatra would be recommenced from July 11, which was discontinued because of the heat wave in the region.
Prominent among others who were present in the meeting included Mr. G Vajralingam, Principal Secretary, Mr. Pardeep Aggarwal, Director General Scholl Education, Mr. Balbir Sngh Dhol, DPI (Secondary Education), Mrs. Pankaj Sharma, DPI (Elementary Education), Dr. Gurjit Singh, Additional State Project Director, Mr. Sukdev Singh Kahlon, Director, SCERT and Dr. Ginni Duggal, Deputy Director.
