Chandigarh, November 18, 2012: Punjab day would be celebrated on November 22 at India International Trade Fair (IITF) being held at Pragati Maidan New Delhi from November 14 to 27.

Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Punjab Government today said that the Punjab Pavilion has been designed and executed with the fair theme of ‘Skilling India. He said that the Punjab pavilion at Trade Fair begins with various technical universities participating to showcase their respective contribution to the field of skill enhancement followed by display by various corporations from state.

Popular Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi would entertain the visitors on the Punjab day 22 November.

Besides that a special display section from Pushpa Gujaral Science city, Kapurthala having many interesting facts about science has also been installed.

He said that the main entrance for Punjab Pavilion is the depiction of Khalsa college of Amritsar the premiere educational institution of state with a rich heritage, high standards of education with special focus on vocational training and skill enhancement. The main Pavilion signage has also on this structure and domes on top of the building boasts of rich architectural heritage of the state. The human figures of male and female on either side on the front are a symbolic representation of hardworking and skilful people of the state.

He further said that the extreme left is an amalgamation of various shots depicting students graduating of colleges and working on site and becoming successful entrepreneurs in life. He said that the Punjab Pavilion would also depict a cultural bonanza of the state and rich festivities for which Punjab is known for across the globe.

The display from Punjab Agriculture University showcases organic farming and other research initiatives which result in higher crop yield. The diorama also depicts the story of how initiatives are being taken at the grass roots level with research team visiting and educating farmers on how to use various modern methods of farming.

He said that the display of industry section has been ranging from small machine tools to sport equipments and hosiery wear of the state.

Punjab Government has also decided to pay tribute to the legend filmmaker from Punjab Yash Chopra and great comedian Jaspal Bhatti who have contributed immensely to the entertainment industry of India at Punjab Pavilion.

There would also be a flavour of local shopping bazaar boasting of traditional jutties, phulkari, shawls and hosiery products from the state.
