PUNJAB CM: Government College to come up at Ferozpeur in name of martyrs

Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab paying homage at the Smadhi of the martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev at Hussainiwala, near Ferozepur, on Saturday.

Ferozeur, March 23, 2013: “The Centre Government has always given step-motherly treatment  and after the  independence, not-impartial towards Punjab”, said Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab while addressing  the state level function to celebrate martyr day of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev and Rajmata.

Lashing out at the Centre government, Parkash Singh Badal said, “Because of giving more concessions to other states by the Centre has given by the central government, the industry of Punjab is facing number of problems. Keeping in view the sacrifices by the Punjabis for the independence of country, the Punjab should also be given the concession on the pattern of other states.  The Centre government, besides snatching of our capital and Punjabi speaking areas, has also snatched out rights and this is the reason that there is a burden of Rs.32,000 crores on the Punjabi farmers. Moreover, the financial assistance to the farmers beyond the barbed wire fencing at the Indo-Pak border has been stopped since long but the Punjab Government has decided to compensate these farmers with Rs.3000 per acre.

Badal further said, there was a time when center government was dependent on Punjab for the procurement of wheat and paddy but now the center government is reluctant to procure the same.  Levelling charges, he said, the wheat procurement season is ahead but the center government has not yet been able to arrange the required gunny bags besides making no arrangements for movement of rice which can affect badly the procurement arrangements in the state.

Showing a concern, Badal said, it is very unfortunate that even after 65 years of Independence, the maximum poverty is in our country which is because of wrong policies of the Congress governments. The center government takes back the 65 per cent share of the total taxes collected by the states and the remaining 35 per cent is allowed to be retained by putting up the strict conditions.

Badal said, the Punjabis have got the first food for martyrdom in heritage which started from our Gurus who sacrificed their life against cruelty, coercion and partiality.  On this day, Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were hanged at mid-night and cremated at Hussaniwala.  Despite the fact, we have got this independence after giving number of sacrifices but till today, the dreams of the martyrs have not been fulfilled as still majority of the people in the country are deprived of the basic facilities, he added.

The martyrs are the property of the community and those communities who forget their sacrifices, can never progress. We are enjoying today because of sacrifice of lives by the martyrs and history is a witness to it that maximum Punjabis had sacrificed their lives for the independence movement besides bearing the torture and imprisonments at ‘Kala Pani’, Badal added.

On this occasion, Badal announced the erection of Martyrs Memorial at Kartarpur over 23 acres of land at a cost of Rs.200 crores besides construction of memorial in memory of jawans who sacrificed their lives for the sake of country at Sri Amritsar Sahib. He also announced the opening of Government College at Mohkam Khan Wala which will provide inexpensive and standard education to the people of the area. The required land for the PGI like hospital being opened in Ferozepur District would also been provided by the government.

On this occasion, Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Irrigation Minisgter, Sher Singh Ghubaya, MP, Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP President, Hari Singh Zira, MLA, Joginder Singh Jindu, MLA, Vardev Singh Noni Maan, Manjit Singh Rai, Natinder Mukhija, Darshan Singh Sherkhan, member SGPC, Sat Pal Singh Talwandi, Darshan Singh Bhumbalanda, Pritam Singh Malsiha, Master Gurnam Singh, Gopal Sharma and in good number of Akali and BJP workers and people of area, were present.
