Punjab Assembly unanimously thanks President for conferring Padma Vibushan on CM

Chandigarh, March 16, 2015: The Punjab Vidhan Sabha today unanimously passed a resolution for expressing gratitude to the President of India Pranab Mukherjee for conferring the coveted Padma Vibushan award on the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal. 

In a resolution moved by the Punjab Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa on the floor of the house, the state assembly felicitated the Chief Minister and people of Punjab for this rare honor. The resolution read, “Conferment of prestigious Padma Vibushan award on the most respected Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, by the President of India Pranab Mukherjee on the Republic Day January 26, 2015, in recognition with his continued services for the welfare of poor, dalits and farmers since long. This award is a sheer honor for Punjabiat and all the Punjabis across the globe”.

Later, the Chief Minister thanked the President and Union Government for bestowing this prestigious award on him adding he said, “I owe this honor to all the people of Punjab”. Badal also thanked the members of the house especially the opposition for unanimously passing this resolution.
