In Punjab 15-20% youth are suffering from arthritis
Ludhiana, October 11, 2018: Dr.J.L.Bassi Hospital organises a seminar on the occasion of world arthritis day in J.L.Bassi – Director of Bassi Hospital explained about Arthritis, their cure and prevention. Dr.Dhiren Bassi (Orrthopaedic surgeon) explained that Arthritis is not synonymous with old age anymore. In fact, young urban Indians have now become prime candidates for arthritis. Arthritis is reported as more commonly occurring in Indian women as compared to men. India is likely to become the Osteoarthritis capital by 2025 if the current rise in incidents continue. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), one in six people and one in three families suffer from arthritis in India. That means, about 15 per cent to 17 per cent of the Indian population are suffering from arthritis. Dr. J. L. Bassi blame causes like sedentary life style, over gymming, intake of alcohol with steroids, intake of junk food, more consumption of tea, wearing high heels etc leads to arthritis. He further said, one can easily prevent from this disease by having balanced diet, increase the intake of green leafy vegetables, maintain body weight, try to change posture after every half an hour, do exercise after consulting doctor and try to add 1 table spoon of “desi ghee” in your diet to avoid KNEE REPLACEMENT in future. Hospital has also launched a campaign named “Save your Joints” under the guidance of Dr. Dhiren Bassi.
