Chandigarh, December 14, 2018: Prof.Prince Sharma from Microbiology Department of PU has been elected Fellow of the Academy of Microbiological Sciences (FAMSc) in the 59th International Conference of Association of Microbiologists of India held at University of Hyderabad from December 8-12, 2018, for his contributions to research, teaching, patents, industrial technology transfers and promotion of microbiological sciences among students and society.
His major contribution to research is engineering thermostable enzymes of industrial significance and he has transferred two technologies to Cadilla and New England Biolabs, USA. He has completed several research projects from CSIR, DBT, ICMR, UGC, DFS and ICMR and is currently developing an eco-friendly enzyme- based technology for paper industry and is also working on combating Antimicrobial Resistance through designing novel broad spectrum vaccines. His interests include developing on-site, economical nano-biosensor for quick-diagnosis of drug resistant pathogens and opiate drugs. He has won Glaxo Smith Kline Vaccine Travel Award, 2016 in Amsterdam for his research work on Reverse Vaccinology and was awarded by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, USA to participate in European BioSafety Association Conference in Madrid– 2017. His work on Reverse Vaccinology in the Nature Group Journal -SCIENTIFIC REPORTS- is selected in top 100 publications of the year 2017.
