PTU Inter College Badminton Tournament Inaugurated At DAVIET

Jalandhar, September 9, 2015: Punjab Technical University Inter College Badminton Tournament was inaugurated at DAVIET Jalandhar here today. The Chief Guest of the day, Hockey Olympian Sardar Dawinder Singh Garcha and the Guest of Honour,  Sardar Lakhbir Singh,  retired DSP were accompanied to the inaugural function by Dr.Manoj Kumar, Principal DAVIET, Jalandhar.  The event was attended by all the HoDs of the Institution, faculty members and sportspersons from various participating institutions

Dr. Jagroop Singh, Sports President at DAVIET Jalandhar, welcomed the Chief Guest for agreeing to be present at the inaugural function. He also welcomed the Guest of Honour Sardar Lakhbir Singh who had come to bless the students.  In his address to the sportspersons, Dr. Jagroop Singh motivated the students  to give their best in the competition to outdo each other. He inspired the students to be humble in victory and graceful in defeat. He highlighted the fact that it is through games and sports that the students imbibe in the qualities of hard work, discipline and dedication.

Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal DAVIET, Jalandhar welcomed the Chief Guest, Sardar Dawinder Singh Garcha and the Guest of Honour,  Sardar Lakhbir Singh,  retired DSP and thanked them for taking time out of their busy schedule to grace the occasion by their benign presence. He also welcomed other dignitaries, officials for the tournament and other sports persons from various institutions affiliated to PTU. He  encouraged the students to have faith in their ability to perform well on the field.  He said that through participation in sports the students will imbibe in the qualities of team work and leadership skills. He also added that there should be tough but healthy competition so that the best team wins the tournament. He urged upon the students to play the tournament in the true spirit of sportsmanship.

The Chief Guest of the function Sardar Dawinder Singh Garcha , expressed happiness at the fact that so many students of technical colleges are taking active part in sports which surely augers well for the future of the nation. He was all praise for the efforts put in by Punjab Technical University to promote various games and sports in the technical and professional institutions affiliated to it. He emphasized the importance of sports in ones daily life to remain fully fit.

The Chief Guest, Sardar Dawinder Singh Garcha and the Guest of Honour,  Sardar Lakhbir Singh along with Dr. Manoj Kumar  and other dignitaries were introduced to the teams of RIET, Railmajra and A& M, Pathankot which were to play the first tie.
