Jalandhar, June 12, 2017: I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University, leaders in Distance Education in the State breathes fresh air into its distance education programmes for the session 2017-18 by focusing on learning outcomes for students enrolled in various courses offered in Distance mode. Courses are being offered in the areas of Management (BBA and B. Com); Information Technology (BCA, MCA, B. Sc., M. Sc. and PGDCA) and Journalism & Mass Communication (BA and MA). Admission of Lateral Entry for BCA, B. Sc. (IT) and MCA is also open. All courses are approved by the Distance Education Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi. Approval will soon be obtained for MBA and M. Com as well. Candidates can apply from all over the world however; Personal Contact Programme and Examinations will be conducted as per the jurisdiction of the State of Punjab and U.T. of Chandigarh only.

To attract good quality students to these programmes, the University is offering attractive and lucrative scholarships too. The Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme is being offered to meritorious students and a special 25% tuition fee concession for Defence Personnel / Ex Serviceman and their wards. Post Matric Scholarship for SC / ST candidates and concession on tuition fee as per percentage of disability to Handicap students is also being offered. There will be full tuition fee concession to the employees of IKGPTU and 50% concession to their wards.

Open and Distance learning is the need of the hour and a boon for that segment of the society which is separated by time and space. All those people who desire to enhance their skills but cannot attend regular classes should join the distance education programmes of IKGPTU. People in remote areas, working individuals, women are encouraged to apply. Distance Education Programmes provide flexibility to the learner to adjust the method and pace of learning. Easy to understand study material will be provided online to all students free of cost.

Spokes person of the University said "The University will leave no stone unturned to ensure quality education is imparted to students. Dedicated well qualified course coordinators have been appointed for various courses to ensure that the learnings of students in Distance mode can be equated with those of regular mode".
