PROJECT ENVIRONMENTAL CARE on gurgaddi divas of Sri Guru Har Rai concludes

Ludhiana, March 15, 2013: The International Human Rights Organisation (IHRO) and Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Sarabha Nagar have concluded its yearly coordinated project ‘Environmental Care’ on gurgaddi divas of Sri Guru Har Rai celebrating this day of March 14 as Sikh Environment Day and setting up a Photo Gallery on ‘Ardas’, ‘Anand Karaj’ and ‘Bara Maha Manjh’.

This was stated by Gurdwara president Jatinder Singh Sandhu and IHRO chairperson DS Gill, in their communiqué issued to the Press here today.

According to Gurdwara Management Committee Executive Director of the Project and IHRO general secretary, Mohinder Singh Grewal, the Bara Maha isGuru Arjan’s calendar poem in the measure Manjh (SGGS pp 133 to 136). The opening verse of the composition presents the binary theme of the poem: the factual situation of the human soul's separation from the Divine Soul.

Photo artist TPS Sandhu and the learned PAU Prof Gurbhajan Singh Gill, said Grewal, explained in detail the theme of the sacred poem to devotees on this pious Gurgaddi Divas after the Photo Gallery was opened to the public. 

“The event was followed by plantation drive- Go Green, Sarabha Nagar, and on the spot Dr JS Arora and Dr Mandhir Singh Aulakh, both retired professors and heads of PAU departments planted saplings along Gurdwara management committee members and other environment activists. During the year, more than 500 saplings have been planted,’ added the communiqué.

In the evening, a martial arts training for empowering women and children was initiated after holding a demo for Gatka. Regular classes would start from first week of April.
