Ludhiana, September 27, 2016: Prof Kamal Chopra, Owner of Foil Printers, Ludhiana, has been elected as the President of the All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP). The elections were held during the annual general body meeting of AIFMP at Bengaluru on 25th September 2016.

Representing more than 250,000 printers, AIFMP is the world’s largest association of printers. AIFMP draws its strength from more than 70 affiliates spread around the country. It is the only apex body of the Printers, recognised by the Government of India. Since its inception , the AIFMP has done sterling work to increase the prestige and influence of the printing industry and help it render better and more useful service to the public.

It is for the first time that a printer from Ludhiana has been bestowed upon this honor. At present, he is the General Secretary of Offset Printers Association ,Ludhiana.( OPA). He has the experience of serving the Printing Industry since last 46years .The flagship project Print Yatra was started by none other than Prof. Kamal chopra where he visited across the length and breadth of the country, specially north India to have networking between different associations and printers across India and to bring them on one platform . Prof. Chopra is associated with many Indian universities to spread the knowledge of printing. He has recently been nominated as the Hon. Professor at the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, China which is world’s largest printing university. He is the first Indian to be nominated for such a honour. Prof. Chopra is considered to be the Ambassador of Indian Printing Industry to the world, because of him Indian printing industry is now on the world Map . Besides being the general secretary of Offset Printers’ Association, Chopra is also the member of the Academic Council of the GJ University of Science and Technology and the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). He is also the President of the Printers Club of India and the Editor in Chief of the Punjab Print .

Speaking on the occasion, Chopra said, “AIFMP will see more importance given to the micro- and small printers, more than the medium and large sector printers, my mission is to take AIFMP at par with the best at international level, and government recognition for printing and packaging industry. Printing is the basic industry and is the biggest invention of mankind, but it is seen that no recognition is given to this key industry by the government of India. There is no department or ministry for printing in India and I would like to work for the proper identification of this industry in government, private and social circles.”

The office bearers during the 2016-17 tenure are: Anand Limaye, honorary general secretary; C Prakash Babu is the treasurer. The four vice presidents for the four regions are - Arun Gupta for North; CD Kumaravel for South; Rajinder Jain for West; and Sandip Sanyal for East. GK Kalairajan will act as the joint secretary while D Kalita, the immediate past president.
