Prof Hardeep Singh completed his first spell successfully at IIAS Shimla

Ludhiana, July 5, 2015: Dr Hardeep Singh, Professor in Hindi, SCD Government College, Ludhiana, have been successfully completed 1st spell as IUC Associate at Indian Institute of Advance Study Shimla from 1 June to 30 June, 2015. He gave his presentation on ‘love and pain in poems of Harkirat ‘Heer’. Besides this he attended Workshop on Youth and Human Development, June 22-26, 2015, another talk on Anti-commodities as a Concept for Rural History; Local Responses to Colonial Cultures and their Legacies Dr. Harro Maat 18 June 2015. He attended a lecture delivered by Professor Jon Mathieu, HistorischesUniversität Luzern, Schweiz (Switzerland), who has been invited to the Institute as Visiting Professor, deliver his 2nd lecture on “Global History of Mountain Regions: Pastoralism and Urbanisation” on 17 June 2015 (Wednesday).The Institute is organised a symposium on “Practices, Policies, Institutions: Presenting and Representing Indian Cultures” on 15-16 June 2015.

In the first spell twelve participants arrived at IIAS Shimla from different parts of the country. Prof Hardeep Singh said, it was a rare opportunity for research work by using the library resources and online material.

During his stay at Shimla Professor Hardeep Singh also delivered two lectures as resource person in HP University, Shimla. First, power of mind and second lecture was on ‘critical thinking’.
