Jalandhar, June 26, 2015: Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi was warmly welcomed by KMV faculty on her returned from an academic visit to US Universities like Harvard, Boston, Chatham and New York University. She made a presentation on “Making of Global Citizens : Vision and Challenges of Leaders in Education” in a five day International Conference organized at Harvard University, USA from 26-30 May, 2015.  Her talk focused on how education today must have the requisite edge to develop competencies among students to be the world citizens who will be the leaders of tomorrow. In her talk, she shared that the world today has common issues and problems ranging from environment, health, terrorism, human resource, economic disparity, gender issues and so on. Technology has brought the world closer but education hasn’t kept pace with the development of young students who can think and act globally. Beginning with school education and then in higher studies Dr. Atima Sharma had carried out surveys in India and other countries which shows that a lot of work should be done by the policy makers and leaders in education towards this cause. Recommendations in curriculum development and executing programmes were discussed in detail in the paper. Her talk was widely appreciated and received by academicians present from many parts of the world. Scholars from Turkey, Poland, Africa and America have offered their cooperation to Dr. Sharma to take her work forward in this field. They will become contributors in her future work on this project. Dr. Sharma also chaired a session in the International Conference at Harvard University.

It is worth mentioning that during her stay she was invited to Boston University to deliver talks to students and scholars in 3 different programmes. Her talk in Boston University on Gender Issues was very well received by students, professors and scholars. She also visited Chatham and Pittsburgh University to discuss details for future partnership programmes as KMV-Chatham partnership has been going on for the past 5 years. During her visit to the New York University, she interacted with scholars in the Department of Education and English and discussed various pertinent issues. Dr. Sharma also visited the US College Board and discussed academic issues to benefit the students at KMV. It is worth mentioning that KMV is a member of the US College Board which adds quality and value to the education imparted to students at KMV.
