Chandigarh, March 21, 2015: The week long Training School under UGC Networking Resource Centre in Pharmaceutical Sciences on the theme “From Drug Discovery to Drug Delivery: Contemporary Trends” was successfully conducted by University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University (PU), concluded today at Golden Jubilee Seminar Hall, PU.

During the Programme, eminent speakers? from various academic institutions, research organizations and industrial houses with expertise in diverse disciplines of pharmaceutical sciences together with the n-house faculty of UIPS trained the participants from all over the country.

During the valedictory programme,  President, Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Mumbai & Director, St. Peter's Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Warangal, Dr Rao V S V Vadlamudi delivered the Valedictory Lecture on ‘Drug Discovery and Drug Development: India Perspective.’

Director, NIPER, Mohali, Prof K. K. Bhutani who presided over the function, shared his sagacious remarks on key milestones crossed during the sojourn from Drug Discovery to Drug Delivery.

Earlier, Chairman, UIPS & Programme Coordinator, UGC-NRC & Coordinator of this training school, Prof Bhupinder Singh Bhoop in his Welcome Address, exhorted the pharma faculty participants towards innovative strategies oriented towards medical needs and technological breakthroughs and briefed about the antecedents of the week long course.

Feedback from the participants was also invited by Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Joint Coordinator of the School, Prof Kanwaljit Chopra. She also proposed the Vote of Thanks on the success of the Training School.

In the forenoon session, a couple of lectures on Pharmacovigilance were delivered.

‘Patients Safety and Pharmacovigilance Programme of India: Current Scenario’ by Additional Professor, Department of Pharmacology, PGIMER, Chandigarh Dr Bikash Medhi and ‘Pharmacovigilance: Rudiments, Issues and Concerns’ by Quantum Solutions, Chandigarh Dr Vineeta Malik.

Another popular talk on ‘Crystal Engineering: A Conceptual Approach for Improving Drug Molecules’ was presented by UIPS, PU Prof Renu Chadha. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
