Police Canteen inaugurated in Police Lines at Ludhiana

Families of police personnel to get goods at 25% concession
Ludhiana, March 10, 2017: `Police Canteen’ has been opened in the premises of Police Lines, Ludhiana. This canteen is meant for police personnel and their family members working with Police Commissionerate, Ludhiana. The tax-free goods of daily use are made available for sale at reasonable rates here.
Police Commissioner, Ludhiana Jatinder Singh Aulakh inaugurated the canteen on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, he said the canteen has been opened after getting permission from the Department of Homes. He said the tax-free quality goods are made available for sale at this canteen, the goods are cheaper as compared to the market rates. Overall, the goods will be about 25 per cent cheaper compared to the market. At present, 300 types of goods are made available, the number of these goods will be increased to 500 soon. Trained staff has been deputed to convenience of the buyers.
The canteen is fully air-conditioned (AC) and the buyers are issued computerised bill. The customers are free to use debit/credit cards besides cash for their respective transactions. The canteen has been set up at a cost of Rs.55 lakh.
Similar canteens are successfully working in the premises of PAP Jalandhar and Police Lines at Amritsar. The successful running of these two canteens inspired local police authorities to open a canteen here.
Police Commissioner said that Punjab police used to make every effort for welfare of its employees and the opening of canteen here is another step towards this direction.
Among others, Deputy Commissioner Police Mandeep Singh Sidhu, Deputy Commissioner Police (Investigation) Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, all additional deputy commissioner police, assistant commissioner police, SHOs and police personnel were present.
