Jalandhar, November 1, 2017: A play Dhrabi directed by Dr.Gurpreet Singh Ratol was staged in the premises of Apeejay College of Fine Arts. The play was staged successfully as a joint venture by Punjabi University Patiala and Punjabi Jagriti Manch. The play is set around the India of 1947. It breaks the stereotypes of communal violence and highlights the rare sparks of humanism seen in the miserable times when Hindus and Muslims became bloodthirsty for each other’s blood.

The chief characters of the play are Jatt Sikh, Chirag Muslim, Pritam the Khatri Sikh and the plot revolves around the cordial relationship they share. The story is about a village Dhrabi where Muslims give shelter to their Sikh and Hindu friends without letting animosity and hatred creeping in their hearts and minds. The play also portrays life of people who suffer from side effects of war, children whose dreams are shattered and relationships are sacrificed at alter of war. Principal Dr. Sucharita Sharma congratulated the artists for their successful performances.
Mr. Navjot S.Sindhu, Minister of Local Government, Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Archives & Museums of the state of Punjab graced the occasion as a chief guest and congratulated the artists for their splendid performance.
