Annual Convocation at Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar, November 7, 2017: Today was a day of jubilation and honour for around 379 students of Lyallpur bKhalsa College who were awarded degrees in the Annual Convocation of the College. The Chief Guest of the event Padma Shri Dr. RNK Bamezai, the noted scientist and former Vice Chancellor Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, conferred on degrees to those students who qualified post graduation Masters Exams in session 2015-16 in various academic streams.
Addressing the students, the Chief Guest urged them to work together, and focused, to achieve their aims in life, and asked them to strive for the betterment of mankind. He congratulated the students on their achievements and expressed his satisfaction at the way the college was imparting research based education to its students.
The President of the College Governing Council Sardarni Balbir Kaur welcomed the Chief Guest and said that the college was providing globally acceptable and rewarding education to its pupils, with particular encouragement to women education, as around 35% of its total student strength was comprised by women students. Wishing the graduates good luck in life, she asked them to contribute their best for the development of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of the College Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra said that the institution was committed to quality education, productive research and all round development of students. Highlighting the achievements of the college, he informed the present that the college had won the first runners up positon in University Cultural championship besides holding the Overall Sports Championship of the University. He also informed that the College had started BA in Journalism and Mass Communication this year and was going to start Diploma in Computer animation from the next session. Present on the occasion were S. Jaspal Singh Waraich Joint Secretary Governing Council, S. Jagdeep Singh Shergill, S. Avtar Singh Kang, members of the Governing Council and Master Mohinder Singh.
