Plantation & Cleanliness should be a routine affair: Governor

Shimla, June 5, 2017: Governor Acharya Devvrat said that plantation was the part of religious activities in our rich culture and Yajna had been performed in every home for purity.

The Governor was speaking during cleanliness and plantation drive organized by Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation at Kamla Nehru Hospital (KNH) premises, here today.

He said that Vedas have been explained about the Environment protection, and also give explanation about the mutual relations, but unfortunately we didn't follow it.

He urged the people to make the cleanliness a regular habit in life, which would go a long way in acquiring the ‘Swachh Bharat’ status for the country. He said that it should be made a routine affair instead of single day affair. He appealed to the people throughout the State to participate in the cleanliness drives and help making the environment better to live. Stressing upon good health, he said that we could get the blessings of God through good health, which was explicate in Ayurveda.

The Governor lauded the efforts of the Foundation for initiating various programmes for social cause and added that the members of the Foundation took the lead in organizing such charitable work for humanity and congratulated them for the same. He was also congratulated them for adopting KNH campus for cleanliness drive.

He also administered pledge of cleanliness.

Later, the Governor also took time for sapling a plant in the KNH premises and took part in cleanliness drive.

Capt. N.P.S. Bhullar, Incharge, Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation welcomed the Governor on the occasion.

Shri G. C. Negi, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Shimla, Dr. L.S. Chaudhary, Medical Suprintendent, KNH, Shimla, Smt. Rajwant Kaur, Zonal In-charge of the Foundation, Smt. Rajvasudev, Member In-charge of the Foundation, New Delhi and other prominent people of the town were also present on the occasion.
