PEDA HOLDS CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING PROGRAM ON ENERGY CONSERVATION BUILDING CODE

LUDHIANA, March 9, 2018: A special capacity building training program on Punjab Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) was held on March 9 on Friday at Hotel Mahal.

Punjab Energy Conservation Building Code has been notified by the Department of New and Renewable Energy, Punjab Government which is now mandatory in the building and complexes having a connected load of 100 KW or greater or a contract demand of 120 KVA or greater or having a conditional area of 500 m2 or more.

Anupam Nanda, PEDA District Manager said that energy requires to be conserved and developments need to keep pace with changing needs. He further elaborated that various initiatives are being undertaken by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Punjab government to integrate ECBC with National Building Code and Notification of Punjab ECBC is a step in that direction.

But unless the practitioners and sanctioning authorities are aware completely the implantation would not be possible and hence awareness programs and workshops are being conducted by PEDA, he added.

Dr. Arvind Dhingra, GNE in his address emphasized on the smooth implementation of the Punjab ECBC which will ensure construction of energy efficient buildings resulting in a reduction in electrical demand by 30-40 percent in the buildings.

Rakesh Garg, Executive Engineer PWD (B&R) Ludhiana, emphasized the importance of ECBC and shared his experience on patronizing Solar Energy.

ECBC Master Trainer Anurag Bajpai and Meenakshi Kandhari imparted training to the participants on various aspects of Punjab ECBC covering Scope and Administration, Building Envelope and Building Physics, Interior and Exterior Lighting Design, HVAC, Implementation and Enforcement Models, etc.
