Chandigarh, January 27, 2017: On the 68th Republic day of India, it was a proud moment for Pearl Academy as its students performed at the Khadi tableau - a part of Republic Day parade at Rajpath.
In continuation with the constant efforts to make Khadi an inclusive part of fashion education, Pearl Academy has spun charkha for the promotion and revival of Khadi on 2nd October 2016, Pearl Academy students learnt to spin the charkha and made an installation which was unveiled at Khadi Gramodyog Bhawan at CP, New Delhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. In addition, the students installed an 8x8 feet installation of Mahatma Gandhi, which was made out of thread spun on the charkha
The students decked in khadi, gave a wonderful performance at MSME Tableau while showcasing a great collection of renowned designer Sharee Basu. Also, they got an opportunity to meet our hon’ble PM, who appreciated them for their efforts.
Pearl Academy students have participated in Khadi tableau which came back to Republic Day parade after an interval of 8 long years. They will also be present at Rashtrapati Bhawan on 27th January 2017 to meet Hon’ble President of India.
“I am delighted to see that so many young students of Fashion are showing a keen interest in Khadi. They have been doing a commendable work and I hope this will go a long way in popularizing Khadi among the youth”, said Kalraj Mishra Union Cabinet Minister of MSME.
On this occasion, Nandita Abraham CEO Pearl Academy said: “Khadi is even more significant as it’s one of the prominent symbols of India’s Independence. It is our endeavor to educate our students about the significance of Khadi and I am happy that our students got a chance to be associated with Khadi and be a part of the prestigious republic day parade”.
