Payment By Cheques To Factory Workers; Punjab Govt Assures Industrialists To Find Permanent Solution To This Issue

Ludhiana, August 27, 2015: Punjab government has assured the factory owners and industrialists that they would soon find a permanent solution to the issue related to payment of salaries to factory workers through cheque. Punjab Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal held a meeting with the industrialists yesterday and he assured them that the Punjab government would find a permanent solution to this issue. The delegation that met the Deputy CM was led by Punjab Irrigation Minister Mr Sharanjit Singh Dhillon and Advisor to CM Mr Maheshinder Singh Grewal.
      The industrialists who held a meeting with the Deputy CM included Avtar Singh, president, Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Manjit Singh Khalsa, president, PSIEC, Upkar Singh Ahuja, general secretary, CICU, Jagbir Singh Sokhi, chairman, Sewing Machine Manufacturers Association, Joga Singh, president, Focal Point Association, R D Sharma, general secretary, All India Cycle Manufacturers Association, Rajesh Misra from Parvasi Mazdoor Sangh, Baba Ajit Singh, Kamaljit Singh Karwal, Harbhajan Singh Dang, Baljinder Singh Panesar, Jatinderpal Singh Saluja, besides several others. The Deputy CM assured them that the Punjab government is committed to find a permanent solution to their problems.
      During the meeting, the industrialists raised several issues such as problems faced in Mixed Land area, electricity connections and requested the Deputy CM that he should find a permanent solution to them. The Deputy CM assured them that for the display of their products, an exhibition centre would be set up in either Focal Point or Chandigarh Road and asked the officials to find a suitable place for this purpose.
      Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal directed the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation to remove all encroachments in Focal Point area and said that he would not tolerate any encroachments on government land or along the roads.
