PAU ORGANISES AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AND TRAINING PROGRAMME

Ludhiana, May 12, 2017: The Department of Extension Education and Communication Management, PAU, organized an awareness campaign on importance of soil testing , safe drinking water and a training programme for rural women in the village Noorpur Bet, district Ludhiana. Nearly 70 farmers and the farm women participated in this programme. Dr Kanwaljit Kaur, Professor, told the participants about the importance of soil testing and use of biofertilizer in the fields. She also motivated the farmers and the farm women to get their soil and drinking water tested. Forty drinking water kits were purchased by them. Demonstrations also were conducted by the students at farmers’ fields, detailing the procedure for taking soil samples.

Dr Sukhdeep Kaur, Assistant Professor, delivered the lecture on importance of nutrition and hygiene on human health. Demonstrations were conducted by the students on preparation of nutritious recipes, tomato preservation and preparation of cleaning agents. Women were encouraged to prepare nutritious food at home for their families.
