PAU Inks Pact With Harsh International Foods

Ludhiana, September 23, 2015: A memorandum of understanding was signed between Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and Harsh International Foods, Ludhiana, for licensing of technology of multi grain instant porridge, developed by the PAU Department of Food Science and Technology (FST). The pact was inked in the presence of the Dr Ashok Kumar, Additional Director of Research (Farm Mechanization and Bio-energy), PAU and Mr Vipen Kumar, a representative of the company.

Dr A. Kumar said the product has a low moisture and longer shelf-life.

Mr Kumar said they aimed at commercializing this product because of its value to the consumers. “Multigrain porridge is a healthy combination of grains and dietary fibre along with sugar. It is a multipurpose food for consumption such as breakfast cereal, baby food and sweet dish,” he observed.

Dr (Mrs) A. Kaur, Head of FST, stated, “People have become health conscious and there is a great demand for the porridge.”

Dr Baljit Singh, PAU food technologist, informed that product has been developed using HTST extrusion technology.
