PAU Imparts Training In Weed Management In Rabi Crops

Ludhiana, December 11, 2015: The Department of Extension Education of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organized a training programme on “Weed Management in Rabi Crops” in the village Rattowal. As many as 40 farmers participated in this training, held under the guidance of Dr Jaswinder Singh Bhalla, Professor and Head, Extension Education. During the training, demonstrations on proper spray technology were conducted at farmers’ fields.

Addressing the farmers, Dr Simerjeet Kaur, Assistant Agronomist, discussed various types of weed flora, infesting the rabi crops and their harmful effects. She also explained the cultural and chemical weed management strategies for rabi crops. She stressed on the use of recommended herbicides and on the adoption of right spray technology for effective control of weeds like gullidanda.

Dr Dharminder Singh, Assistant Extension Specialist, advised the farmers to follow PAU recommendations and read PAU farm literature for solutions to their farm issues.
