Ludhiana, February 11, 2015: An extension lecture was organised by the Departments of English, Hindi and Punjabi of Ramgarhia Girls College wherein the renowned lyricist, Irshad Kamil, shared his views with the assemblage.
Principal, Dr Narinder Sandhu extended him a warm welcome. Irshad Kamil has reached worldwide acclaim with his songs for movies like Socha Na Tha, Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal, Rockstar, Aashiqui 2, Highway and many more and has been decorated with a number of awards. He talked about his passion for writing and his journey in Bollywood so far.
The students of PG Department of Music Vocal performed the songs penned by him.
Dr Narinder Sandhu averred that his songs have always tugged at the heartstrings of music lovers and because of his poetic zeal; he has made a prominent place for himself in Bollywood.
Prof. Sanjeev Dawar from R. K. Arya College, Nawanshahr, an old friend of Irshad Kamil, was also present on the occasion. He averred that the magic which he weaves with his pen has enabled him to carve a distinct identity for himself in the Indian film industry.
Ranjodh Singh, President and Jagtar Singh, General Secretary, Ramgarhia Educational Council, appreciated the efforts of the departments of languages for organising the event.
