PAU & Aston University To Jointly Develop Waste Management Methods

Chandigarh November 19, 2015: To encourage and stop the practice of burning Rice Straw, the Agriculture Department is providing huge subsidy to farmers for purchase of Agriculture machinery and equipment for proper disposal of the straw.
A spokesperson of the Agriculture Department Punjab said that to process the disposal of Rice straw and other agriculture wastes for other useful purposes, agricultural scientists are on the job to develop new and innovative waste management methods.
He further said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by Punjab Agriculture University (PAU); Ludhiana with U.K based Aston University for a period of five years to develop waste management methods. The MOU has been signed between PAU Vice-Chancellor S. Baldev Singh Dhillon and Mr. Robert Berry, an expert of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Aston University U.K. Both PAU and Aston University would work jointly on the project to explore transformation of Rice-Straw and other Wastes into useful products.
