Patil launches Signature campaign to keep city neat & clean

Chandigarh, October 15, 2014: The Punjab Governor and Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh, Shivraj V Patil today put his signature on the banner to launch signature campaign in the City to pledge to keep the city neat and clean.

Patil asked Municipal commissioner to implement this campaign effectively to get desired results. He also asked to purchase latest sweeping machinery of different sizes to ensure cleanliness at faster and safer pace at low cost. He also asked the concerned officer that these banners should be pasted in educational institutions, offices and at public places to create more awareness among the general public regarding the cleanliness campaign.

He said that Municipal Corporation should make every possible effort to make Chandigarh a clean and green city forever. He appreciated the efforts of the Municipal Corporation which is not only organizing the cleanliness drives but also arranging awareness sessions, seminars, workshops etc. to increase the contribution of people towards the environment.

He said that if somebody spreading garbage on the parks and streets, stop them and aware them about the damage caused by the garbage in the environment. He appealed all the citizens to join hands with the MC for keeping the city clean.

Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Harphool Chander Kalyan, Mayor of Chandigarh, M.P. Singh, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Governor, V.P. Singh, IAS, Commissioner, Raj Bachan Singh Sandhu, ADC to Governor, Rajiv Gupta, Joint Commissioner, Mukesh Anand, Chief Engineer, Municipal Corporation.
