Says self proclaimed panthic leaders were hand in glove with the Congress party to help it in Lok sabha polls

Kapurthala,January 25, 2019: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president S.Sukhbir Singh Badal today asserted that the party was sacrosanct to every SAD leader and worker, saying that those who had betrayed their mother party to secure their vested interests deserved to be shown the door even as he accused the evicted leaders for colluding with the Congress to help it in the Lok Sabha polls.

After interacting with the party workers at Kapurthala and Sultanpur Lodhi, the SAD president said the ousted Akali leaders were spreading lies about the SAD and its leadership by leveling baseless accusations against them. “Being a representative organization of the Sikhs, how could the SAD be blamed for such a dastardly and blasphemous act of sacrilege? Adding that these self proclaimed panthic leaders were hand in glove with the Congress party and they wanted to help it in the run up to parliamentary polls by defaming the SAD, a true protector of the interests of the Sikh community,” he said.

Targeting the Congress government for regressing the state back by 5 years during its two year rule through wrong policies, S. Badal said that the Congress government has been busy in slapping fake cases against the SAD workers in every constituency of the state. “They have targeted entire families with fake cases, not even sparing 85 year old women. But you won’t be able to scare a party like the SAD with such cheap tactics,” he said, adding that after assuming power, the SAD-BJP government would get all the false cases registered against SAD workers probed and stern action would be taken against the erring officials.

Earlier, speaking about the development works carried out by the erstwhile SAD-BJP government, the SAD president said that Punjab had witnessed a record growth in terms of infrastructure development and enhancement of road as well as air connectivity during the SAD-BJP rule. “The Air connectivity was increased with coming up of Airports at Mohali, Amritsar,Aadampur and Bathida. Roads were widened into four lanes and six lanes across the state to boost the road network which attracted huge investment in return in the state,” he added, asserting that former chief minister S. Parkash Singh Badal’s thrust on maintaining peace and communal harmony in the state proved a boon for Punjab during the SAD-BJP rule,” the SAD president said.

Speaking about the Virasat-e-Khalsa, a key project initiated and completed by the SAD-BJP government, S. Badal said that the heritage of the Sikh community has been preserved at the Virasat-e-Khlalsa where 15 to 20 thousands pilgrims visited daily to take a look at the glorious history of the Sikhs. “Badal Sahib had shown tremendous respect for all religions whenever he had taken charge of the state as CM. He wholeheartedly granted funds for the beautification of the memorials related to all religions,” he added, asking the people that if they had received funds in crores for their constituency when the SAD-BJP was in power. He pleaded them to see the difference; they hadn’t received a single rupee since the congress had assumed the office.
