Panjab University Senate approves representation to Ministry of HRD and UGC representatives as ex-officio members of PU BoF

Chandigarh, October 9, 2016: Accepting the recommendation of the Regulations Committee, the Panjab University (PU) Senate today approved the representation to Ministry of Human Resource Development and University Grants Commission representatives as ex-officio members of PU Board of Finance (BoF).
PU Senate approved the recommendations of the Syndicate to curtail the re-employment of Dr Vijay Chopra, Professor in English (Retd.), Department of Evening Studies beyond third year.
The PU Senate approved the recommendations of the standing committee regarding semester system at the undergraduate level. As per the approved proposals, the practical examinations of under graduate classes would now be conducted in the end semester of second, fourth and sixth semester. The honours examinations of under graduate classes would be conducted at par with theory examinations scheduled pattern. The PU Senate also allowed the inter university migration in the even semester provided the other conditions were fulfilled.
The PU Senate approved the offer of Maharana Ranjit Singh Chair Professorship to Lt. General KJ Singh, PVSM, AVSM. The chair has been setup at the Department of Defence and National Security Studies.
The PU Senate approved the facilities for the Chair Professors of eight chairs at the University.
Earlier, the PU Senate paid homage to Smt. Satya Bhama and Shri Biru Ram Pathak, the mother and father of PUTA President Prof. Promila Pathak, both of whom passed away last month. The Senate observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect for the departed soul.
