Pain Management Clinic was inaugurated on Thursday in Private OPD of the hospital by Secretary of DMCH Managing Society Prem Kumar Gupta.

Ludhiana, March 7, 2013: Pain Management Clinic was inaugurated today in Private OPD of the hospital by Secretary of DMCH Managing Society Prem Kumar Gupta.

In his message, Sh Prem Kumar Gupta said that purpose of setting up Pain Management Clinic at DMCH is to to provide safe, state of the art care to patients in pain by promoting strong clinical service, education, and research. Principal Dr Daljit Singh said that the Pain Management Clinic at DMC will be offering a comprehensive range of services for patients suffering from acute or chronic pain.

According to Professor and Head of Anaesthesiology- Dr Sunil Katyal, Pain is a complicated, debilitating medical, economic and social problem that affects physical and mental well-being. Pain physicians are devoted to managing acute and chronic pain conditions which needs an in-depth understanding and knowledge of managing a pain patient with judicious selection of treatment modalities.

Dr. Suneet Kathuria, incharge pain management unit said that most of the Interventional pain therapies are done under radiological guidance under local anesthesia on day-care basis.This specialty has recently emerged as a rapidly developing specialty in our country. Facility for round the clock acute pain management especially post surgical pain using sophisticated PCA Pumps (Patient Controlled Analgesia) is also available at DMCH.
