Ludhiana, July 26, 2018: The two weeks orientation program for fresh students concluded today at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana. The orientation program was arranged in line with the guidelines received from All India Council of Technical Education which had mandated that a compulsory two weeks orientation program be organized for fresh admissions from 2018 onwards. After having got a tremendous response to the admissions process wherein almost all seats in Engineering were filled, the new session started with a bang. Dr.Sehijpal Singh, Principal in his inaugural address highlighted the legacy of the college. He apprised the students that GNDEC has given many graduate and post graduate engineers over its glorious history of six decades. These engineers are well placed all over the world in top companies or have their well-known own enterprises and they have contributed immensely to the development of technology and mankind. Dr.Surinderbir Singh, Ex-Principal, GNDEC apprised the students of the value system as told by our gurus. He exhorted the students to follow the path of righteousness and truth. Er. Ankitpal Singh, an alumnus of the institute gave an insight into the soft skills an engineer needs to possess. He highlighted the points which need to be observed while public speaking. Sh.B.S.Rattan, Retd. IRS delivered his talk on personality development. Er. Satwant Singh, PCS, Municipal Commissioner, Ludhiana an alumnus of the institute shared his experiences with the students. S.Harinderpal Singh gave the student knowledge about various scholarship schemes run by government and private sector. Er.J.S.Kular, Retd. ED (STEP) gave a talk on developing spirit of entrepreneurship. Alumni of the college including Dr.P.S.Gill, Harpreet Singh et.al. shared their college days with the students.
To make the students aware about the working of college, Dean (Academics): Dr.K.S.Gill, Dean (Examination):Dr.AkshayGirdhar, TPO:Er. Gagandeep Singh Sodhi, Dean (Student Welfare): Dr.Jasmaninder Singh gave presentations explaining various processes in college. Dr.ArvindDhingra apprised the students about extra curricular activities and importance of being members of students societies/clubs. Er.Jaswinder Singh gave an insight into scholarship scheme for minorities as run by Government of India. Er.Lakhwinder Singh was the stage coordinator for the whole program. The students were also taken on visit to KupKalan to apprise them of the history. Pf. Randhir Singh &Pf.Satwinderjit Kaur, Coordinators of the program thanked all for making the program a success.
