Open House on Gender Equality: Awareness and Motivation at KMV
Jalandhar, February 6, 2019: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-the Heritage & Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar's Women Studies Centre organised an Open House on Gender Equality: Awareness and Motivation with the aim to provide a platform to the students to share their views, thoughts and experiences. Prof.Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Director, Women Studies Centre and Principal, KMV chaired this session and acquainted the students with the mission and vision of the centre. She inspired the students to take research projects on women issues. She persuaded the students to believe in their inner strengths. She emphasised the need for physical and mental strength for women to face the challenges of life elaborating with her personal experiences. She prompted the students to come out with their own experiences and views. Ms. Pawanpreet ( M.A. Eco. ), Ms. Manjot (B.A.), Ms. Palwinder (B.A.), Ms. Priya and many more KMVites expressed their views. This interactive session witnessed the overwhelming participation of KMVites. The house collectively debated the issues facing women in modern society and also tried to find answers and solutions to specific problems raised by participants. Pawanpreet, a student averred that open houses which are a regular feature at KMV help students to share their experiences and find solutions to the most of their problems. Priya, another KMVite maintained that Madam Principal counsels them in a very comforting manner and this counselling inculcates confidence in them and helps them to excel. Mrs. Seema Jain and Dr. Madhumeet also shared their personal experiences . Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of Mrs. Amarpreet, Coordinator, Women Studies Centre for conducting the session immaculately. These sessions enhance the confidence of the students to express their views and get mentored by the principal of the college.
