Onion and Apple prices almost at par!

Jalandhar, August 13, 2013: The Onion prices are bring tears into the eyes of common people, especially the housewives.

The prices range between Rs.70-Rs.80 per kg in the retail market. As a result, onions are getting out of reach of common people. The worried housewives are facing a tough time to cook food without onions.

Reacting to the hike, the BJP national executive member Manoranjan Kalia, MLA, that the nation’s faulty export policy was responsible for the present crisis. He demanded that the Centre should take all corrective measures and also check hoarding of onion across the country. he regretted that onions were available at par with the prices of fruits such as apple.

Simmi Mohindru, a city-based house wife, said the Union Minister for Agriculture Sharad Pawar should intervene in the matter as early as possible. She recalled that once the onions’ price hike had led to change of the BJP-led government in Delhi. She said the present government at the Centre would have to pay price for the present hike in the prices of onion.

Another house wife, Veena Marwaha said the onion flabour is missing from kitchen because of steep rise in the prices of onion. She said the price hike is getting eyes wet of commoners in the country.
