Jalandhar, August 21, 2013: Acting on a complaint filed by Sanjay Sehgal, local Congress leader and Advisor Member, RTI & Grievances Cell, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, Jalandhar against the running of BJP office in the premises of Sheetla Mandir here, the Election Registration Office, Assembly Constituency, Jalandhar (North)-cum-Regional Deputy Director, Local Government, Jalandhar has informed him that he would inspect the spot at 3 pm on August 22 in connection with his complaint of violation.
Sehgal has received a written communication in this regard, through which he has been asked to remain present at the time of inspection and present his side of version, so that compliance of the orders of Election Commission of India be made.
Besides, him, the BJP District (Urban) President Subhash Soodand other related persons have also been asked to be present and present their side of version.
In his complaint Sanjay had alleged that the BJP was running its district office in Jalandhar in Sheetla Mandir complex which is a religious place. He had termed it as a complete violation of the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
Over the time, he had had been alleging that BJP was running its office from a religious place only for securing votes. He had been stating that as per the guidelines of the EC no political party could run its office from a religious place. He had been seeking suitable action as per the guidelines of the EC.
