Office-bearers of CRAWFED, presents memo to Chairman, Parking Committee, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh

Chandigarh, June 15, 2019: Today, the office-bearers of CRAWFED, presented a memorandum to Arun Sood, MC, Chairman, Parking Committee, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh in the committee meeting held with MC officials regarding suggestions of new parking charges in Chandigarh under the Chairmanship of Hitesh Puri. The emphasis was on the minimum charges for parking. Hitesh Puri further said that MC must try to create maximum parking space in commercial places and crowded public places like Sectors 17,18,19,22,34,35 and should charge minimum in these markets only. That parking charges for four-wheelers should be rationalized at Rs.5 for first 1hr, Rs.10 for parking upto 4 hrs and Rs.20 for full day. And, exemption/no parking charges for first 10 minutes for pick and drop facility. Parking charges for two-wheelers should be rationalized at Rs.5 for upto 4 hrs and Rs.10 for full day. Chief spokesman of CRAWFED Dr.Anish Garg said that parking in less crowded areas should be free of charge in the market. And as far as possible, the responsibility for the maintenance of these free parking should be given to the market association there. And smart parking facilities must be provided at paid parking places.
