Ludhiana, July 6, 2018: Tarun Kumar Vashisth, Assistant Professor, UBS Ludhiana has been selected for doctoral programme at IIM, Ahmedabad. Vashisth is the first visually challenged doctoral student in FPM Programme at IIM, Ahmedabad, since the first student graduated in 1974. He has been selected in general category, as there is no provision of reservations in FPM Programme. He took GMAT test rather than CAT as a qualifying test for admission to FPM Programme because he wanted to take the test independently without the help of a scribe; and GMAT provides an option of taking the test through “JAWS”, text-to-speech software. “I will be more than happy, if I could inspire the visually challenged people to explore new areas for their self development independently”, said Prof.Vashisth.

Vashisth extended gratitude to his wife, parents and all the members of his family for their unconditional love and support. He thanked Panjab University for allowing him to go on study leave to pursue his doctoral programme at IIM, Ahmedabad. He further added, “I sincerely hope to pay back to my University and Department (University Business School, Ludhiana) through my skills, knowledge and experience at IIM, Ahmedabad in due course of time”.
