An Annual Alumni Meet of DMCH, Ludhiana being held on Sunday evening.

 

Ludhiana, November 16, 2015: An Annual Alumni Meet of Dayanand Medical College & Hospital was held yesterday evening in a local hotel. The meet was marked by the presence of former students of various MBBS Batches and faculty members as well. During the meet, the golden jubilee MBBS batch of 1965 and silver jubilee MBBS batch of 1990 were felicitated by the dignitaries present on the occasion.
Principal Dr Sandeep Puri extended warm welcome to all the alumni present on the occasion. In his message, Dr Puri said that the event provides a platform for alumni to catch up with their long lost friends and remember their good old days. Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta shared the vision for DMCH and emphasized on the key role played by Alumni contributing towards development of their alma mater. Dr Ashwani Chaudhary (Chairman, DMC Alumni Committee) said the alumni of DMCH have made outstanding contributions in their respective specialties. In his address, Dr Sandeep Sharma (Convenor, DMC Alumni Committee) emphasised on the building up of   good alumni relationship, which benefits alumni as well as the institution.
The meet started with a formal introduction and warm-up session, which was witnessed a crowd of around 250 ex-students from different batches. They were accompanied by their spouses and children, thus making the gathering a grand affair. Everyone present there was seen laughing and cheering while meeting their good old friends. They seemed to cherish every old memory that they shared together many years ago. The well-settled medicos apparently tried to relive their college days once again with their batch-mates during the event.
A novel titled 'Anything to look hot' authored by senior plastic surgeon Dr Jas Kohli (of 1982 MBBS Batch) was also released during the meet.The novel provides an insightful read about the fascinating journey of a plastic surgeon during the time when beauty enhancement treatments and is, were finding their threshold in India.
An alumnus of 1965 batch Dr Iqbal Singh Walia who came all the way from Buffalo,USA to meet his old friends during the alumni meet. For him the experience of meeting his former batch-mates after a long time and that too in the same college campus was memorable. He said that he would cherish every bit of the experience that he gained during the alumni meet. On one hand while the gathering made the doctors overjoyed and euphoric, it also made many of them nostalgic and even brought tears in the eyes of some.
Secretary of DMCH Alumni Committee-Dr Rajinder Mittal proposed a vote of thanks to all those present on the occasion.
