Jalandhar, April 4, 2016: A team of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Monday visited Dakoha and Dhanowali railway crossings here.
The team comprised of the NHAI Project Director-cum-General Manager (Tech) Mr Vipan Sharma, Manager (Tech) Mr K.L.Sachdeva, Engineer D.Sarkar, Soma Isolux’s Mr K.M. Dixit, visited Jalandhar Cantt railway crossing at Dakoha and Dhanowali to access the viability of Railway Over Bridge (RoB) at Dakoha railway crossing and Railway Under Bridge (RUB) at Dhanowali railway crossing.
Team members discussed and review various options to find out a viable solution to the problem hours long road traffic interruption due to heavy rail traffic at these points. These crossing remain closed most of the time due to heavy rush of trains, told BJP senior leader Mr Manoranjan Kalia to the team members.
Kalia had written to Mr Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport, Highway & Shipping, in this connection following which a team was sent to examine both the sites today. He further pointed out that the delay in the construction of P.A.P and Rama Mandi flyovers have created traffic hazards at P.A.P Chowk.
Mr Vipan Sharma said construction work at Rama Mandi Flyover and P.A.P Chowk Flyover would be in progress within a fortnight.
P.A to Manoranjan Kalia Mr Ashish Chopra and Municipal Councillor Mr Balbir Singh Bittu were among those present on the occasion.
