New Administrative Team takes charge at Christian Medical College Ludhiana

Ludhiana, April 2, 2018: Christian Medical College Ludhiana and its affiliated institutions has been serving the country for the past 124 years. Dame Dr.Edith Mary Brown started the college in the year 1894 with 4 staff and 4 students. Currently the institution has 5 colleges. Majority of the graduates of CMC serve in rural mission hospitals in our nation. CMC has contributed to the health care of this nation during the pre-independence and post-independence eras.
Dr.Abraham G Thomas, the former Director completed his term of 10 years on 31st March. He has spent 50 years of his career at CMC Ludhiana. He has done pioneering work in the field of microsurgery and Plastic surgery. He is a recipient of the prestigious Dr BC Roy award twice in his career. The CMC Ludhiana Society members, faculty, staff and the prominent citizens of Ludhiana bid farewell to Dr Thomas appreciating his contribution to the health care in this region.
Dr.Sudhir Joseph, Chairman of the CMCL Society lauded the efforts of Dr Thomas in creating many new state of the art infrastructures at CMC. Mr.Prem Masih, Vice Chairman mentioned that Dr Thomas was instrumental in starting many PG and super specialty courses over the last 10 years.
The dedication of the new team of administrators followed the farewell function. Dr William Bhatti, Professor and Head of Pediatric Surgery took charge as the new Director. He brings with him a rich experience of administration after being a deputy director and Medical Superintendent over the last 6 years.Dr Bhatti’s vision for CMC is to be a " Service provider of choice" by improving patient satisfaction and quality improvement.This can be achieved by offering comprehensive,high quality, cost effective and accessible health care, irrespective of patients paying capacity. We don't want to just "Exist", we want to make a positive difference in individual's life, for all those who come to us either for treatment or for training.
DrJeyaraj D Pandian, Professor and Head of Neurology took over as the Medical College Principal. He is an internationally known Stroke expert and brings with him the expertise of working with World Stroke Organization, World Health Organization, National Institute of Health Strokenet, USA, National Health and Medical Research Council, Australia and Indian Council of Medical Research. Dr Pandian stated that he would like to see CMC in the top 10 medical colleges in the country with focus on academic excellence, progress in medical research and international collaboration.
Dr. Dhruv Ghosh is the new Associate Director who is a well-known Pediatric Surgeon with overseas fellowships from Sydney and Perth. He stated that CMC would focus on cost effective affordable treatment for the people in this region.
Dr. Anil Luther took over as the new Medical Superintendent. He is the Professor of Surgery with specialization in Vascular surgery from Australia. He said that he will give importance to the quality of health care provided in the hospital.
Dr. Mrs. Reena Jairus is the new Principal of College of Nursing and Ms.Kamlesh Gill took charge as the Nursing Superintendent.
Dr.Bimal Charles Treasurer, CMCL Society, Dr.Ajit Singh, Mr. Rajinder Gupta (Chairman Trident Group), Mr.Pahwa (Chairman, Avon cycles), Mr. SP Oswal (Chairman Vardhman group) Mr.JassiKhangura, Mrs. Amandeep Khangura(Macro Dairy Ventures) were the other dignitaries present during the function.
Rev Alex Peter, Head of Chaplaincy department coordinated the program and delivered the vote of thanks.
