Need to start vehicle free day in Ludhiana: Ravneet Singh Bittu

Ludhiana, October 6, 2015: Expressing concern over the rising pollution in the city with more and more people particularly the elderly and the children falling prey to the diseases borne out of air pollution, Member Parliament S.Ravneet Singh Bittu has asked the Mayor, Municipal Commissioner and the District Commissioner of Ludhiana to plan and finalise a vehicle free day in a month.

Ravneet said, our city has been selected by the Union Government to be developed under the Smart City Scheme. With the kind of pollution we have the city will never be smart in real terms. It's time the issue of ever-increasing air pollution and the resulting health complications becomes the matter of discussion in each household, he said.

Bittu said, let's bring our enlightened citizens, the citizen's organisations, NGO's and societies at the forefront for the success of the initiative. “That day we all can use bi-cycles as mode of transportation and encourage others to join for the cause of our fragile environment”, he said.
