NATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR PAU PROFESSOR

Ludhiana, October 27, 2016: Dr S.S. Kukal, Professor and Additional Director of Research (Natural Resource and Plant Health Management), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has been awarded with the Fellowship of Indian Society of Soil Science for his outstanding research work in soil and water management. Sh Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India, presented the award to Dr Kukal during 81stAnnual Convention of Indian Society of Soil Science, held at Gwalior. The Indian Society of Soil Science is one of the largest professional societies at the national level.

Dr Kukal has done excellent work in the field of water management in rice crop, besides gully erosion management in Shiwaliks of Punjab. He has to his credit more than 280 research publications in national and international journals of repute and has handled many research projects. He has also been a visiting scientist to Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization(CSIRO), Griffith, Australia and has handled many international research projects with funding from Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), Australia; IFAD-IRRI Philippines, etc.

Dr R.K. Gumber, Director of Research, PAU while appreciating the excellent work done by Dr Kukal, exhorted him to continue serving the farming community in future as well.
