National Conference on Microbial Biotechnology 2015 concludes

National Conference on Microbial Biotechnology, MICROCON 2015, which concluded on Saturday at the Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, January 25, 2015: National Conference on Microbial Biotechnology, MICROCON 2015, concluded with a lively and interesting debate on ‘Genetically Manipulated (GM) Product/s and Govt.Policies’ on Saturday at the Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh.

The prestigious conference was organised by the PU Department of Microbial Biotechnology. The first of its kind debate in PU witnessed heated arguments and received huge participation from the students, research scholars, scientists and activists. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover, Dean Science Prof Rupinder Tewari and large number of PU teachers and officers also participated in the day long sessions.

The debate was conducted in two sessions. Eminent personalities in the field debated with energetic intensity on the advantages and concerns on the commercialisation and policies of GM crops. More than 200 participants gathered to listen to seven experts on the topic after which the house was open for debate. / (SK Vyas/Jalandhar)
