Ludhiana, November 25, 2016: Dr G.S.Buttar, Additional Director of Extension Education and Senior Agronomist has been conferred with the prestigious ISA Gold Medal 2014 by the Indian Society of Agronomy in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the field of Agronomy. An alumnus of Punjab Agricultural University, Dr Buttar has earlier been a recipient of ICAR Chaudhry Devi Lal Award(2008), Punjab Government Praman Patra( 2010), FAI- Dhiru Morarji Memorial Award (2012-13), Distinguished Scientist Award(2013), and ICAR-CSSRI Excellence Award in Soil Salinity and Water Management (2012-13).
He has also served as Fellow of different Professional Societies, apart from having 119 research papers, 17 review articles and book chapters, 99 popular articles and 56 paper presentations at seminars, to his credit. Dr Buttar has made outstanding research contributions in the field of water management, weed control and nutrient management. He has developed 45 new recommendations which were included in the Package of Practices of Punjab.
As an Extension Scientist, Dr Buttar has addressed numerous state/ district level farmer training camps, delivered many technical lectures, radio/T.V. talks and organized several training programmes on water management.
